Stick Your Head in Doo Doo!

For a few days now I've been thinking of the stupid things kids always said to each other when I was in elementary school. I've compiled a list of favorite phrases that I've either said, or had said to me by children:

•You're a DIAPER-BABY! (The End All, Be All of playground insults. This one's at the top of the list for a reason.)
•Dummy-head! (self explanatory)
•Butt-face! (Also popular: Butt-Head. It's a subtle, but significant difference)
•I'm rubber, and you're glue! Whatever you say, bounces off of me and STICKS ON YOU!
•Stupid-head! (a more extreme version of the classic "Dummy Head")
•You BABY! (This one's similar to Diaper-Baby, but with an important difference. Can you guess what it is?)
•Poop-Pants! (Also, "Pee-Pants")
•Wee-Todd! (Nobody knew what that meant until at least 5th grade, though.)
•You're a LOSER! (That was popular in middle school.)
•Jerk-Wad! (I always hated this one, because I suspected from an early age that it meant something disgusting. Not sure if any other kids ever felt that way.)
•Fart-Breath! (Can't wait to hear THAT come out of my son's mouth.)
•Pizza-Face! (Another popular middle school taunt. Always confused me though, because Pizza in any other context is usually a positive thing.)
•Booger-Brain (This is my husband's contribution to the list. Hmm...)
Anybody else out there have a favorite school-days insult?



Completely unrelated: My son isn't tacky, he's fashion forward! Sometimes Stripes and Plaids DO look good!

The things we do for love!

These are the things I did today in the name of love:

1. About 3 sinkfuls worth of dishes.
2. Killed about 20 bugs.
3. A load of laundry.
4. Cleaned up the living room, no more clutter!
5. Gave away some junk that was taking up space (one person's junk is another's treasure!).
6. Made sure the baby was fresh faced and wearing clean clothes (and diaper!) when we went to pick up Daddy from work.
7. Cooked my husband some chili and rice for dinner.
8. Made myself decent and presentable before guests arrived.
9. Didn't throw a fit about not getting enough attention, even though I considered it.
10. Didn't complain about our A/C not working properly.

I feel pretty good about all I've done today, and I'll do my best to continue doing at least 10 things a day in the name of Love.

My Little Morning Person

I have never been a morning person. Sleep has always been one of the greatest joys in my life. I could do it all day, if anyone would let me. Getting up early was always something I considered to be a travesty, an abomination. Not everyone feels this way.

My son, it seems, is a morning person. He rarely sleeps past 9am, and when he wakes I am bathed in the glow of his smiles and coos. Even I, the Ultimate Sleeper-In, cannot help but feel the day's possibilities wash over me in a burst of light and happiness when I see my son's bright and shining face each morning. He inspires me to greet the day with renewed hope and optimism.

Some mornings, I just do not want to wake up. I hear Lander moving around in his bassinet (or more often, next to me in the bed) and I want to just roll over, put the pillows over my head, and continue to snore. But something always compels me to open up my eyes and gaze upon him, and I'm always glad I did. My son's first smile of the day is always his brightest, as if he is purposefully giving me a reason to wake up and love life.

I will always be grateful to my little boy for giving me a new perspective on the joys of waking up. His happy face is my most potent inspiration.

Hello Blogger World! This is my first blog post on this website, and I'm really excited to get started. A few fun facts about me:

1. I am 22 years old.
2. I have a 2 month old son named (drum roll please) Lander.
3. I have been married for almost a year.
4. I have my own home-based business that is really starting to pick up.
5. My son is my best friend, next to my husband.
6. My favorite color is green.
7. I have a theory that the closer a person stands to a cat, the dumber they become.
8. I'm not living as healthy a lifestyle as I want others to believe.
9. Sometimes I wonder if I'm as good a mommy as I think I am.
10. I have a temper, but I'm learning to control it.
